Today is Earth Day, and personally I feel it is also a very suitable time to take a look around us and appreciate the beauty of all things big and small found in the few nature spots we have left.
If you haven't been checking out any of our wild places, here are some of my favourite animal photos taken over the past two years... We still have quite a lot of nature stuff to offer, you know?
A pretty fanworm taken underwater at Semakau Landfill.
Probably my best shot of a swimming flatworm. Taken at Semakau Landfill.
An ultra cute juvenile cushion star I found on Cyrene Reef.
Cheating here, since this is not a single shot, but a collage of the various juvenile knobbly sea stars I found on Cyrene Reef.
Blue-spotted fantail ray among soft corals at Pulau Jong.
A cute underwater shot of a Glossodoris atromarginata at Pulau Jong.
Colourful corals and algae at Raffles Lighthouse.
A pair of hermit crabs at Raffles Lighthouse.
Alien-looking side-gilled slug swimming in shallow water at Sisters Island.
Pretty ocellaris clownfish at Sisters Island.
And now moving on to terrestrial stuff...
A pretty St Andrew's Cross spider at Marina East.
Probably my best shot of a lynx spider. Taken at Ubin.
Interesting stink bug at the entrance to Chek Jawa.
A damselfly eating another damselfly at Tuas marshland.
Dragonfly at Ang Mo Kio Lotus Pond.
A terrestrial flatworm we found at Central Catchment Nature Reserve.
A pair of mating Grass Yellow butterflies at Bishan Park.
Little green planthopper at Sungei Buloh.
Busy little ant at Khatib Bongsu.
All in all, guess I can only say... What a wonderful world... :)
