Mud Lobster at Semakau is indeed Thalassina kelanang

After I put up my blog entry on the mud lobster, I dropped an email to the authors, Moh H. H. and Chong V. C., who wrote about the new species, Thalassina kelanang, in RBZ to help take a look.

And they have confirmed that the mud lobster I found at Semakau is indeed Thalassina kelanang!

Thanks to Prof. Chong Ving Ching and Moh Heng Heng for helping with the identification!

More details about mud lobsters can be found here: Mud Lobsters & Mud Shrimps (Phylum Arthropoda: Infraorder Gebiidea) of Singapore.

Here are more photos of the mud lobster...

Wow! Well done!

We really need to take a good look at every mud lobster we find from now on. Especially considering that there's now apparently 6 species known to occur in Singapore.

Thats great.

Its best to get a specimen and publish this finding in a paper.
